WHY SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES?

Sustainability isn't a trend for us- it's been woven into the fabric of Entire Productions (and now, Entire DMC) since our inception. As a San Francisco-based company, we embrace our city's leadership in environmental responsibility and bring those values to every event we produce.

Our own Director of Strategy, Bennett Smith, joined the board of directors of the Society for Sustainable Events (SFSE) and is working to make events even more sustainable.

Our Foundation: What We Already Do

Nearly Paper-Free Since 2013 | 24+ Years of Conservation-Minded Events

Sustainability isn't a trend for us— it's been woven into the fabric of Entire Productions since our inception. As a San Francisco-based company, we embrace our city's leadership in environmental responsibility and bring those values to every event we produce.

Digital-First Operations

We've been nearly paper-free in our office since 2013, utilizing digital platforms for contracts, invoices, planning documents, and internal communications. When printing is absolutely necessary, we use recycled paper and eco-friendly inks.

Waste Reduction Strategy

We actively minimize waste at every stage of event production, from planning through execution. Our team ensures proper sorting and disposal of all materials, implementing comprehensive recycling and composting programs that go beyond basic requirements.

Holistic Resource Management

We guide clients in managing their special events with a holistic approach, carefully considering the total resources used including materials, energy, water, and transportation. Every decision is made with environmental impact in mind.

Reuse & Repurpose Philosophy

We encourage and facilitate the reuse of all resources wherever possible. From decor elements to production materials, we design with longevity and multiple applications in mind, reducing single-use items across all our events.

Sustainable Promotional Items

We work closely with clients to identify meaningful, sustainable promotional items that align with their brand values and event goals. We prioritize products made from recycled or renewable materials that recipients will actually use and treasure.

Local Vendor Partnerships

We partner with local San Francisco Bay Area vendors who share our commitment to sustainability, supporting the local economy while reducing transportation emissions and fostering a community of environmentally conscious businesses.

Beyond Recycling

While recycling is important, we understand that true sustainability requires a more comprehensive approach. We focus on the entire lifecycle of event materials—reducing consumption first, reusing whenever possible, and ensuring responsible disposal as a last resort. It's about making thoughtful choices at every step that honor both our clients' vision and our planet's future.

Looking Forward: Our Sustainability Aspirations

As we continue to grow and evolve, we're committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in sustainable event production. Here's where we're headed:

Carbon Footprint Reduction

  • Event Carbon Assessment: Develop comprehensive tools to measure and report the carbon footprint of every event we produce, providing clients with transparent data and actionable reduction strategies.

  • Carbon Offset Programs: Partner with verified carbon offset organizations to neutralize the unavoidable emissions from our events, investing in reforestation and renewable energy projects.

  • Transportation Solutions: Encourage and facilitate use of public transportation, electric vehicle shuttles, and carpooling for event attendees, reducing emissions from guest travel.

Zero-Waste Event Design

  • Comprehensive Waste Diversion: Work toward achieving 90%+ waste diversion rates at all our events through meticulous planning, proper infrastructure, and attendee education.

  • Compostable Service Ware: Eliminate all single-use plastics and transition to fully compostable or reusable service ware for catering and beverage service at all events.

  • Material Recovery Partnerships: Establish relationships with organizations that can repurpose leftover event materials, including donating food, decor, and supplies to community organizations.

Sustainable Venue Selection

  • Green-Certified Priority: Prioritize venues with LEED certification, renewable energy sources, and strong environmental policies, helping drive demand for sustainable event spaces across the Bay Area.

  • Energy-Efficient Technology: Utilize LED lighting, energy-efficient AV equipment, and smart power management systems to minimize energy consumption at every event.

  • Water Conservation: Work with venues and caterers to implement water-saving practices, from low-flow facilities to mindful beverage service.

Sustainable Catering Practices

  • Plant-Forward Menus: Offer and encourage plant-based menu options that significantly reduce the environmental impact of event catering while providing delicious, innovative cuisine.

  • Local & Seasonal Sourcing: Partner with caterers who prioritize locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, supporting regional agriculture and reducing transportation emissions.

  • Food Waste Prevention: Implement precise guest count systems and work with donation partners to ensure excess food reaches those in need rather than landfills.

Education & Advocacy

  • Client Sustainability Consulting: Expand our role as sustainability advisors, helping clients understand the environmental impact of their events and make informed decisions that align with their corporate responsibility goals.

  • Industry Leadership: Share our knowledge and best practices with the broader event industry through workshops, speaking engagements, and collaborative initiatives that raise the bar for sustainable event production.

  • Supplier Engagement: Work with our vendor network to encourage and support their own sustainability initiatives, creating a ripple effect throughout the event ecosystem.

Innovation & Technology

  • Virtual & Hybrid Solutions: Continue developing sophisticated virtual and hybrid event capabilities that reduce travel-related emissions while maintaining exceptional attendee experiences.

  • Digital Event Materials: Expand use of event apps, digital signage, and QR codes to eliminate printed programs, signage, and promotional materials.

  • Sustainable Innovation Partnerships: Collaborate with innovators developing new sustainable event technologies and materials, being early adopters of solutions that benefit both our clients and the environment.

Our Promise

At Entire Productions, sustainability isn't just a page on our website—it's a living commitment that evolves with emerging best practices and technologies. We believe that exceptional events and environmental responsibility are not only compatible but inseparable. Every event we produce is an opportunity to demonstrate that we can create unforgettable experiences while honoring our responsibility to the planet and future generations.

We invite our clients, partners, and the broader event community to join us on this journey. Together, we can transform the events industry into a force for positive environmental change.
